Rosberg shrugs off a charging Hamilton to win Interlagos
Nico Rosberg yesterday ended Lewis Hamilton’s unhindered five races victory march to the title, by beating the sister Mercedes to victory in at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Rosberg has indeed cut Hamilton’s points lead down to 17 heading into the Abu Dhabi GP where the controversial double-points will determine who between the two will walk away with the title.
Hamilton’s waterloo moment of the race was when he half spun at the Descida do Lago on lap 28 of 71 before quickly recovering and diving in to the pits, subsequently loosing seven vital seconds that effectively gave Rosberg the win.
Hamilton drove superbly to regain the time lost to Rosberg, and put him under pressure by remaining within DRS range during a franctic final stint, which eventually saw Hamilton settle for second place.
Rosberg’s win gave him a much required psychological boost and cut Hamilton’s lead to 17 points. With the race of the title still wide open, the odds are in Hamilton’s favour as he has to finish second in Abu Dhabi to win the championship. Keep it Autovault for more Formula One news.
